What Is Raw Honey?
It is honey taken from the hive with little processing. Ours is only strained, not heated and not filtered, so it stays close to its natural state. Because of this, it can look cloudier than shop-bought honey and may contain tiny particles such as pollen or fragments of wax.

Neither type is a medicine. It comes down to what you prefer.
What to Expect
- It may crystallize. Thickening or turning grainy is natural and does not mean the honey has spoiled. Standing the jar in a bowl of warm water usually loosens it.
- It can look cloudy. Fine particles are normal.
- Taste varies. Flavour depends on the flowers the bees visited.
- Colour differs by type. Sidr is typically dark, acacia light, and white and red honey sit at either end of the colour range.
Farm Honey and Jungli Honey
- Farm honey (bari makhi) comes from big bees kept on a farm.
- Jungli honey (bari makhi) is wild honey from the same big bee.
- Jungli honey (choti makhi) is wild honey from the little honey bee.
They are different honeys with different prices, and all three kinds are raw.
How to Choose Raw Honey in Pakistan
The word “raw” is used loosely by some sellers, so look for a clear explanation of how the honey is handled. Before you buy, check that the seller tells you:
- The type of honey, such as sidr, acacia, white or red.
- How it is handled, including whether it is heated or filtered.

How to Use It
- Stir into warm (not boiling) tea or water.
