What Is Sidr Honey?
It is honey made by bees from the blossoms of the sidr tree, a thorny tree of the Ziziphus family that grows in dry regions. In Urdu it is called سدر کا شہد (sidr ka shehad). It is typically dark amber and thick, with a rich flavour, and many buyers in Pakistan look for it for that reason.
Sidr Honey vs Beri Honey: Are They the Same?
In Pakistan, the names sidr and beri (also written ber or berry) are commonly used for honey collected from the blossoms of Ziziphus trees. That is why you will see both names on shop shelves, along with the Urdu name بیری کا شہد (beri ka shehad). At Sanabil Organics, sidr and beri honey are sold together on this page.
Farm Honey and Jungli Honey
- Farm honey (bari makhi) comes from big bees kept on a farm.
- Jungli honey (bari makhi) is wild honey from the same big bee.
- Jungli honey (choti makhi) is wild honey from the little honey bee.
They are different honeys with different prices, as the table above shows. All three kinds are raw.
Tips for Comparing Prices
- Compare the same type and kind. Farm and jungli honey are different products.
- Use price per kilogram. Divide the price by the weight in grams and multiply by 1,000.
- Check the product details. A clear description of the type, size and storage is a good sign.
How to Use It
- Stir a spoonful into warm (not boiling) tea or water.
- Take it by the spoon as a natural sweetener.
- Drizzle it over breakfast, yoghurt or desserts.
Honey is a food, not a medicine. If you have a health condition or questions about diet, speak to a doctor. Honey should never be given to babies under 12 months.

Storing Your Honey
Keep the jar sealed at room temperature and away from moisture. Because our honey is raw, it can thicken or crystallize over time. This is natural and does not mean it has spoiled. Standing the jar in a bowl of warm water usually loosens it.
