Why Desi Ghee Costs More Than Cooking Oil
Desi ghee is made from milk fat. It takes a large amount of milk to make a single kilo, and the milk has to be collected, churned and slowly cooked down. That process costs far more than refining vegetable oil, so a very low price per kilo deserves a second look.
What Affects the Price
- Milk source and quality. Better feed and care for the animals raises the cost of the milk.
- Method. Traditional slow cooking takes more time and fuel than quick industrial processing.
- Packing and handling. Clean, sealed packs cost more than loose ghee sold by weight.
- Delivery. Shipping across Pakistan can add Rs. 200 or more, which is why free delivery matters.
How to Judge a Fair Price
- Compare the price per kilo, not per pack, because pack sizes differ.
- Ask who makes the ghee and where it is packed.
- Be careful with rates far below the market. Pure ghee cannot be made cheaply.
- Check the return policy before you order.
